It’s very old story around this great discovery concerning the Second Sphinx. Since I am working at Giza Plateau I consider this discovery as one of the most important in in modern and ancient times.
When I was young inspector of Antiquity in this great place I was a helper to Chef Inspector in cleaning the southern side of the necropolis of king Khafra (Chephren). I noticed that some rocks were of a huge size and the area was filled by bones and some mummies not very well mummified.
A huge rock situated near by attracted my attention. I’ve learned the rock was considered to be the second Sphinx, however completely ignored by my colleges from the Supreme Council of Antiquity.
During this presentation I am going to show my research about this great discovery from archeologist and Egyptologist point of view. One of the clear evidence that the second Sphinx is a genuine sculpture is the granite stella found between front legs of the old Sphinx. The stella is considered to originate from the time of the New Kingdom and king Thotmos 4th. It includes the inscription of the king worshipping Two Sphinxes in Giza Plateau.
Many details will be shown to everyone at the Conference about one of this extraordinary discovery.
